The most representative town of the Sierra de Gata is Trevejo. A town declared a destination of tourist interest due to its special characteristics. Here the typical architecture of the area stands out, well preserved ; a strategic location from where you can see the entire region, and the Garduño, Albilla, San Pedro and Cachaza mountains as a shield.

One of the main attractions is the castle ruins. This fortress dates from the 12th century and was built by the Muslims. It was later used by the important Order of Saint John of Jerusalem and finally destroyed by the French during the 19th century.

At present, its keep and a large part of the wall continue to resist the passage of time. At the foot of the castle are a series of anthropomorphic stone tombs, worth seeing and enjoying.

One of the main charms of the Sierra de Gata is a privileged location that allows you to isolate yourself from everything. One of the best towns for this is Robledillo de Gata. This town was declared an Asset of Cultural Interest in 1994.

Robledillo preserves its medieval layout and unique architecture, which make it the perfect getaway. Houses with adobe walls with ocher colors and natural tones are the predominant range here.

Regarding the religious buildings, the parish church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción is notable, a 16th century construction with an imposing Mudejar roof. In addition to the parish temple, there are three hermitages: the Cordero and the Humilladero, both from the 16th century, and the one dedicated to San Miguel.

An unforgettable route where you will know the charms of an area that has not been reached by mass tourism. So, you just have to dedicate yourself to relaxing and enjoying the wonderful surroundings. Remember that the most important thing you will see and enjoy are the Serragatinos, friendly people from Cáceres who will not hesitate to help you make your stay in the Sierra de Gata unforgettable.
