Since the 17th century, the port of Cala Ratjada was a fishing port specialized in skating and lobster fishing. Since 1960, with the arrival and development of tourism, it has become a marina where leisure activities are practiced.

However, you can still see some traditional boats, the more modern llaüts and trawlers, alongside luxury yachts offering excursions around the area.

2. Capdepera lighthouse

The Capdepera lighthouse is located two kilometers from Cala Ratjada, located on the easternmost tip of the island of Mallorca. It was inaugurated in 1861 and had a rotating apparatus that provided white light with flashes every 2 minutes with a range of 18 miles.

It was modernized several times until in 1961 its light was changed to a lamp when electrification arrived. In 1970 the current installation came into service, after the replacement of all the equipment. During the visit to the lighthouse, in addition to learning about its history, you will be able to enjoy  beautiful views of Punta Nati and Dartuch, on the Menorcan coast.

4. Can March Palace

The Can March palace is quite an interesting visit. It is located on a hill, surrounded by gardens where you can see numerous sculptures. It was built at the beginning of the 20th century on the old Torre Cega, from the 15th century, and belongs to the well-known March family.

5. Sa Torre Cega

Sa Torre Cega (in Spanish ‘la Torre Ciega’) is one of the most significant monuments in Cala Ratjada. Its name is due to the fact that it was the only tower that could not be seen from the nearby watchtowers. Its origins date back to the 16th century, when this military watchtower construction was part of the defensive framework of the town.

In 1915 the land was acquired by the March family, who commissioned the construction of a family recreation village. In the 1960s, its gardens were remodeled by the English landscaper Russell Page, who added a large collection of contemporary sculptures that can be seen today.

We continue with Son Moll beach, which is very close to the center of town. Its easy access makes it one of the most visited in the area and it has a very good atmosphere.
