Fairy Pools In Scotland, Magic And Fantasy

The Fairy Pools are located on the Isle of Skye, specifically in the Brittle Valley. It is a succession of crystalline natural pools, with deep cavities and waterfalls that, depending on daylight, can be turquoise or emerald in color.

How to get to Fairy Pools

When reading this article you will surely want to run to know this corner full of magic and beauty, but you will have to prepare for a good walk, since they can only be accessed on foot  through a path from Carbost.  A path through the Glen Brittle forest that leads directly to the waterfalls that fill the Fairy Pools with water.

The essential requirement is hiking boots, throughout the journey you will be accompanied by a gravel road that  is in good condition most of the time, although if it has rained a lot, mud can form and the areas where the river crosses can become a real challenge.

After the long walk, when you reach this paradise, you will forget about the fatigue when seeing these pools with waterfalls in the heart of the Cuillins Mountains that really seem to be the work of magical fairies.

Wrap yourself in the magic of the Fairy Pools

When you arrive, take your time to explore the area and visit all the pools enjoying nature and the landscape. After about twenty minutes, you will find the most beautiful and famous groups. You can enjoy a beautiful pool of clear blue water, ideal for swimming, where there is a natural arch.  Diving under its waters is an authentic experience, if you are not cold, of course.

This set of natural pools and waterfalls are of various sizes and depths, so if it causes you to dive despite the freezing water, don’t be fooled by the view, some have very deep cavities, although the crystal clear waters do not give that sensation.

Fairy Pools are part of the Brittle River. In its course, the combination with the rocks and the cleanliness of the water provide the turquoise, blue or aquamarine color  of its waters that makes visitors fall in love. On the sides of the river there are cliffs full of purple trees that create an almost impossible composition and offer spectacular views.

Carbost, picturesque place

Carbost is the closest town to the Fairy Pools, a picturesque place from where the walks to these magical pools depart. Here you can find accommodation, restaurants where you can taste great food and visit the distinguished Talisker whiskey distillery, located next to Loch Harport.
