Papohaku, A Fabulous White Sand Beach In Hawaii

The white sand Papohaku Beach is one of the largest in Hawaii. It is located on Molokai and is a must-see destination on your visit to the island. It is the typical paradisiacal beach where you have always imagined resting. The softness of the sand and the sound of the waves breaking make this place one of the best in the world to relax.

Where is Papohaku beach

Next to it you will find a camping area. It is known as Papohaku Beach Park and it also has tables to eat and even an area where you can cook on various barbecues. In this campsite there are also public toilets.

So you can better enjoy Papohaku beach, which is the largest on the island. It extends until it reaches almost five kilometers, so at a normal pace it will take at least an hour to cover it from end to end. As for the width, the average throughout its length is about 100 meters.

Bathing is not advisable

If you go to Hawaii with the idea of ​​enjoying the ocean water bathing next to the coast, this is definitely not the best beach to do it. The main problem is the roughness of the sea, which at many times of the year does not allow for a quiet swim.

But you should be extremely careful, as the water practically always comes with great force. In fact,  some tourists have suffered serious mishaps. Unaware of the fury of the sea in Papohaku, they have been swept away by the current and hit the rocks, even suffering fractures.

There are no lifeguards on this beach. In addition, being far from civilization and there are hardly any people, a serious accident in this place can be fatal. The best thing for that is to take precautions.

The bravest dare to surf on the waves that crash on the shore of Papohaku Beach. In the same way, we recommend not doing it, because in this type of scenario you have to have a lot of experience to get on the table.

What you can do in Papohaku

It is not advisable to bathe, but it is advisable to go to this huge white sand beach. It is the ideal setting to rest, to throw a towel, lie down and watch the waves wash the coast surrounded by palm trees.

Also, you know that no one is going to disturb your rest, as there are hardly any people on this beach. And if you get bored, you can always read a good book.
