1. Saint-Pierre

This caused that the majority of its inhabitants died and that the city stopped being the capital of the island and the most important commercial port of this.

If you like diving, the story continues under the sea. Due to the tsunami that caused the volcanic eruption, all the ships in the area sank and are considered as relics at the bottom of its coasts.

2. Balata Botanical Gardens

These gardens are private, but the owner is happy to show them to everyone. They have more than 3,000 species of flora that are spread between beautiful ponds in which water lilies and lotus flowers float.

To finish embellishing the landscape, there are hanging bridges between the trees that will allow you to have a different perspective of these wonderful gardens.

3. Fort-de-France

This city is the capital of Martinique.  Among other attractions, and has a wonderful central park. Palm trees, paths, statues, lakes and fountains adorn this natural lung of the city, a city full of color thanks to the architecture and painting of its houses.

There are other places worth visiting in the city, such as Fort Saint Louis, the Palais de Justice and the Saint-Louis Cathedral, along with the Bibliothèque Schoelcher. Corners that you cannot miss.

4. Route de la Trace

It is a picturesque route with a unique natural charm that goes from the capital of the island to its most famous volcano. A very well signposted path of sand and wood that offers you a tour of beaches, mountains and impressive cliffs.

5. Musée de la Pagerie

This is where Josefina de Beauharnais was born, who became the wife of none other than Napoléon. It is a stone house that seems taken out of a story and is surrounded by a green and flowery environment.

Inside you can see Josefina’s personal belongings, along with the marriage certificate with Napoléon. You will also be able to know the best kept secrets of the history of his love, or rather, of his arranged marriage.

6. Sainte-Anne

They say that it is the most beautiful town on the island, so you cannot miss it for the world. Its beaches are an impressive turquoise color with stretches of sand that seem to have been molded from the sky. If you want to spend a day relaxing and feeling in paradise, Saint-Anne has it for you.

7. Ajoupa-Boullion

This small town is surrounded by the most exuberant nature you can imagine. In addition, the town itself is adorned with colorful flowers and has a large culture of crayfish that attracts the attention of everyone who visits it.

Through its tropical forest, you can make an exciting trail in which you will enter the jungle  and reach beautiful gorges and waterfalls.

8. Grand-Rivière
