1. Spring

Spring is, without a doubt, one of the best times of the year to visit Lisbon. The weather between April and May is warm and pleasant, inviting you to stroll quietly through its streets.

At this time everything flourishes, making the city look more beautiful than ever. A city that in many of its corners is dressed in a beautiful blue color. The reason? Some small trees, the  jaracandas, whose flowers fill the Portuguese capital with joy.

Spring is, therefore, the perfect time if you are one of those who enjoys discovering cities on foot. You can do an unforgettable route: the one that will take you through the viewpoints of the city. And it is that Lisbon is full of points from which to observe wonderful images.

2. Summer

Without a doubt, summer is one of the ideal times to visit Lisbon, especially if you want to enjoy the beautiful beaches, such as those of Costa Caparica. And it is that during the summer the weather in Lisbon becomes very warm. Temperatures can even reach 40 degrees.

If you go at the beginning of the season, when the heat is still not too hot, you can stroll through the Baixa,  the historic heart of Lisbon. The beauty of this place is unique, since it is located in a small valley.

Start your tour through the Restauradores square until you reach Rua Augusta. From there continue to the monumental arch, climb the famous Santa Justa elevator and enjoy one of the best views of the city.

3. Autumn

The weather in Lisbon during the fall is usually quite humid. If you don’t have the right clothing, you can have a hard time, as the rains are joined by the strong winds from the Atlantic.

The rain may prevent you from enjoying yourself as you would like, but it will still be worth it. The colors of autumn give a special air to the bohemian and bucolic neighborhood of Alfama. Perfect to enjoy fado in one of its many venues.

And, if on your walk it suddenly starts to rain, you can always take the opportunity to visit the beautiful cathedral, the castle or, simply, take a ride on one of the historic trams that run through the city.

4. Winter

The coldest days of the year are recorded between the months of December and January. Although unlike other European cities the climate is not so inclement, so you can visit the city without major problems. The minimum temperature is usually around 5 degrees Celsius and the maximum between 15 and 17 degrees.

What can you do? You can visit the wonderful Jerónimos Monastery, the Torre de Belém and the Monument to the Discoveries. If you are tired or cold, do not hesitate, direct your steps to the most famous pastry shop in Lisbon to have a warm drink and taste the famous “pasteis de Belem”.

Besides being a vibrant city, in the winter you can also enjoy the beautiful Christmas decorations. Lisbon shines at Christmas, as every corner is carefully decorated and illuminated. And if you dare to spend the end of the year here, the Plaza del Comercio is the favorite place for locals.

Lisbon is an incredible city that has a unique and special charm in each season of the year. Whether in winter, summer, autumn or spring, the weather in Lisbon will always be ideal to enjoy one of the most interesting and beautiful cities of the old continent.
